Join local civic and corporate leaders in group discussions about the challenges and successes of building Hispanic community outreach.
Set in a national center for arts and Hispanic culture, this off-site workshop will also address issues and concerns with education, health and human services, community development, arts, and culture unique to the Hispanic community.
Many “wounded warriors”—veterans of past wars, as well as returning veterans from Afghanistan and Iraq—receive help through community foundations. The Warrior Family Support Center /The Returning Heroes Home, located at Fort Sam Houston, is one of the leading facilities providing for the physical and emotional needs of America’s heroes. Join us for an on-site visit and learn what types of services and programs the center provides to help soldiers and their families re-connect. Learn, too, how community foundations efforts are aiding in this important effort.

In May 2009, San Antonians celebrated a $72.1 million Museum Reach Urban Segment , a collaborative funding initiative by the City of San Antonio, Bexar County, San Antonio Water System, and private donations collected by the San Antonio River Foundation.
Ride down this new 1.5 mile river expansion with project managers from the San Antonio River Authority. From the lock and dam complex and fish sanctuaries to public art installations and pedestrian access, take a facilitated barge tour and hear how stakeholders collaborated on multiple phases of design and implementation to restore and enhance the San Antonio River.
Dedicated to changing the lives of San Antonio's homeless community, Haven for Hope provides a wide range of critical social services in a single and central location. Its offerings go well beyond shelter, food, and clothing, to providing services that help transform and save lives in Bexar County.
Founding Chairman Bill Greehey and Dr. Robert Marbut, Jr., president and CEO of Haven for Hope, will lead a discussion about the 37-acre campus setting and its services programs. Then you’ll be invited to take part in small group discussions about the root causes of homelessness and how your own community can build cost-effective and sustainable solutions.
