A Word on Partnerships: Council’s Legal Team Working Side by Side With Regional Partners
When people think of the myriad of partnerships in which the Council engages, the legal team may not come first to mind. But the fact of the matter is, the legal team regularly engages with other organizations, particularly our regional partners, on behalf of the sector.
Recently, I, along with my colleague Brad Ward, our director of community philanthropy, presented a full-day workshop on legal topics for community foundations. It was co-hosted by the North Carolina Network of Grantmakers (NCNG) and held in Raleigh. This July workshop was filled to capacity and many attendees shared how valuable the information was.
In October, I, along with Staff Counsel Bryan Del Rosario, will be presenting several legal sessions at the annual Kansas Association of Community Foundations (KACF) conference in Wichita, KS. And one month later, in November, I’ll be speaking at the Southeast Council on Foundations (SECF) annual conference in Orlando, FL, providing a legal update for corporate foundations
On another note, the legal team is set to release several new chapters of the Council’s compendium of legal resources, Mastering Foundation Law by the end of the year. We also are continuing our Lunch with Legal Counsel webinar series, with the next one scheduled for October 11th at 2 p.m. EST/11 a.m. PST on Self-Dealing. You can register for that webinar here. We are here to assist our members, so please do not hesitate to call on us.
