Webinar Recording: Legal Office Hours for Community, Private and Family Foundations: Grants to Individuals and Businesses

Over the past weeks, COVID-19 has changed most foundations' disaster and crisis management plans by the hour. As primary local funders throughout this pandemic, many are launching local response funds, shifting to immediate operational and unrestricted grants, and seeking best practices to meet the current and emerging needs of their communities.

During these office hours, Bryan Del Rosario and Ben McDearmon, nonprofit attorneys from the Council on Foundations, as well as Brad Ward, the Council's Lead Strategist for Community Philanthropy, will be present to tackle specific issues and clarifications as needed.

Registrants will have an opportunity to share top questions and concerns for legal review prior to the session.  During each session, participants will engage in a Q&A discussion to address emerging legal questions with specific topics introduced by our attorneys.

To ensure discussion, these sessions will be limited in capacity (1 representative per foundation) and recorded for sharing with the field.

This session will focus on grants to individuals and businesses, including:

  • Granting to for-profit businesses
  • Assistance funds and hardship grants
  • Other community-related support from corporate donors or private-public partnerships.
