Martha Lackritz-Peltier
NGOsource: TechSoup
General Counsel, TechSoup & General Manager, NGOsource
Martha is General Counsel at TechSoup Global, an NGO headquartered in San Francisco. In this role, she oversees compliance, legal operations, as well as various due diligence-based programs, including NGOsource. She is deeply engaged in exploring ways in which philanthropic due diligence can be undertaken in ways that better capture the needs and nuances of local organizations previously excluded from traditional funding. This includes overseeing the STEP program, a partnership among TechSoup and various civil society organizations in the global majority aimed at localizing and democratizing the flow of resources to local organizations.
Previously, Martha worked at the law firm of Adler & Colvin, where she counseled nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations and donors. Prior to this, she clerked for the Honorable Chief Justice Wallace Jefferson, interned for Nina Totenberg at NPR in Washington, D.C., lived in Vietnam under a Fulbright grant, and worked as a freelance journalist. Martha holds a bachelor's degree from Brown University and a J.D. from UC Berkeley Law School: she is a member of both the Texas and California state bars, as well as the U.S. Supreme Court Bar. Martha was named 2019 Outstanding Young Nonprofit Attorney by the American Bar Association.
