Tim Lampkin

Dr. Tim Lampkin is the Founder and CEO of Higher Purpose Co, a 501c3 economic justice nonprofit serving Black entrepreneurs, artists, and farmers across Mississippi.  Higher Purpose Co statewide membership is supported by asset building, narrative change, and advocacy programs. Lampkin has over a decade of community development and entrepreneurship experience. He previously managed the Racial Equity Program for the Mississippi Humanities Council, which won the National 2018 Schwartz Prize. Lampkin also worked for Southern Bancorp Community Partners to implement multi-million initiatives and advised Mississippi Delta entrepreneurs in partnership with Delta State University. He is the recipient of the Our Mississippi Honors Award for most influential African American of 2022-2023 and a Fellow of the Black Churches 4 Digital Equity National Coalition. The Motley Fool Foundation selected him as Mississippi's first Financial Freedom Rulebreaker. Ashoka selected him in 2021 as the first person in Mississippi for the lifetime social impact fellowship. The Mississippi Business Journal selected Lampkin as one of the 2019 Top Entrepreneurs in the state. Lampkin is a proud HBCU graduate of Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU) and has completed Master’s degrees at Delta State University and Bellevue University. He completed his Doctor of Education at the University of Arkansas. Lampkin completed the Authentic Leadership Executive Program at Harvard University. He serves on the Cooperative Food Empowerment Directive (COFED) advisory board, Mississippi Humanities Council, and Main Street Alliance. He is the Chairman of MVSU Business Department Advisory Board. Lampkin previously served on the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis Community Development Advisory Council and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Consumer Advisory Board. Lampkin is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha, Fraternity, Inc. He loves collecting artwork, live music, fishing, and traveling to new destinations.
