Sean T. Buffington is Vice President for Programs of the Henry Luce Foundation. He joined the Foundation in 2015 and oversees its six grantmaking initiatives as well as program planning and evaluation. Sean created the Luce Indigenous Knowledge Initiative and leads the development of new programs. Before Luce, Sean served as President of the University of the Arts in Philadelphia where he introduced an innovative interdisciplinary curriculum, restructured the visual arts college, launched a number of new degrees, and established a program for creative entrepreneurs. Before that, Sean worked as a senior administrator at Harvard University, ending his time there as Associate Provost for Arts and Culture. He had responsibility for the Harvard Art Museums, the American Repertory Theater, and the Graduate School of Design, among others. Sean received an A.B. summa cum laude from Harvard College, and a Master of Arts in American Culture from the University of Michigan.
