Melissa Rhodes Carter leads strategy and grantmaking for the Walmart Foundation's Caring and Connected Communities portfolio. In this capacity, she directs funding to initiatives and organizations fostering trusting relationships and enhancing a sense of community and belonging across lines of difference. Previously, Melissa served as a United States Foreign Service Officer for the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. and abroad. She lives in Bentonville, Arkansas with her family.
