Director of Community Initiatives

Emily Nilsen serves as Impact Development Fund’s Director of Community Initiatives where her foremost accomplishment has been overseeing the Disaster Recovery initiative. To date, this initiative has administered over $35 million in governmental and philanthropic financial support toward the recovery, rebuilding, and resiliency efforts after the Marshall Fire in Boulder, CO. Impact Development Fund’s disaster recovery work has been heavily informed by community needs, public input, and adaptive, responsive program guidelines, and involved intake, underwriting, and funding for both loans and grants directly to individuals. Prior to IDF, Emily served as Operations Director for Sharing Connexion, a nonprofit with the mission to provide affordable housing organizations and nonprofits with real estate expertise and funding. Emily is dedicated to excellence in the nonprofit sector and is particularly well versed in program development, outreach, and communications. Emily holds a BA in History from Regent University and a Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Management from University of Colorado Denver’s School of Public Affairs.
