Executive Director
Michael Myatt became the Executive Director of BangorHousing in 2011. BangorHousing owns and manages nearly 900 apartments within the City and administers approximately 450 housing vouchers. During his tenure, he has achieved Moving to Work status for the agency and built the largest Family Self Sufficiency program in Maine. In addition, he currently serves as Secretary/Treasurer of Bangor Housing Development Corporation, a private Maine non-profit affiliate of Bangor Housing.
Previously, Mr. Myatt was Vice President of Avesta Housing in Portland serving various roles that included managing the real estate development team and then transitioning to the oversight of the entire management portfolio of over 60 properties and nearly 2,000 units. Prior to joining Avesta, Mr. Myatt worked for the Maine State Housing Authority as a Multifamily Loan Officer and in the Community Development Office of the City of Lewiston as a Housing Officer. He has previously served as a board member of the Genesis Community Loan Fund, is a current board member of the Maine Affordable Housing Coalition and chair of the Legislative Committee for the Maine Association of Public Housing Directors (MAPHD). He is a former Board President of Maine Real Estate Managers Association. Mr. Myatt attended the University of Maine where he received a B.A. degree in Public Administration.
Mr. Myatt has extensive experience providing leadership to the management and development of affordable housing in Maine. He has worked using a variety of funding opportunities including the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program, Rural Development Section 515, HUD Section 202, tax-exempt bond financing and federal subsidies including Community Development Block Grant and HOME funds.
