The Council of Foundations’ summer interns are here!
From now through August, our interns — all currently enrolled college students from across the country — will be working in the Council’s office helping to advance the good work of our members and to expand the reach and scope of philanthropy.
In addition to gaining invaluable work experience, Council interns will participate in unique professional development opportunities including an HR: 101 course, site tours of local member foundations, one-on-one meetings with senior Council leadership, team-building workshops, and more.

Toure’ Burgess, Public Policy Intern
Toure’ is a rising senior and management major, legal communications minor attending Howard University who grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland. He has interned and worked in both the House and Senate and accumulated nearly two years of Hill experience.
Lauren Hamilton, Information Technology Intern
Lauren is studying for her B.B.A in International Business with a concentration in information systems at Howard University. She hails from Raleigh, North Carolina, by way of Illinois, and loves reading, shopping, and exploring new things with her friends. In the future Lauren would like to own her own health clinic and a line of BBQ sauces.
Lauren Wells, Communications & Marketing Intern
Lauren is a rising junior in the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University studying international politics with a concentration in international law, institutions, and ethics, and minoring in French. A California native, Lauren enjoys the beach, yoga, ballet, and traveling.
Mara Goldman, Membership & Development Intern
Mara is from sunny Los Angeles, California, and moved to the East Coast last August to study international political economy at Georgetown University. Mara enjoys reading, travelling, visiting museums, and running along the Georgetown waterfront.
Sarah Stellwag, Professional Development Intern
Sarah is from Celebration, Florida, also known as the town built by Disney. She is a rising junior at Georgetown University, pursuing a dual degree in government and economics. In her free time, Sarah enjoys playing golf, reading, visiting art museums, and traveling.
McQuillin Murphy, Global Philanthropy Intern
McQuillin is back for a second summer with the Council on Foundations! Originally from Reading, Pennsylvania, he is pursuing majors in international politics and geography at Penn State University. McQuillin loves to collect old maps and globes, debate at model United Nations conferences, sing in the university choir, and give tours of Penn State with his twin brother.
