Executive Director
Julia Bator is the executive director of the J.M. Kaplan Fund, where she oversees the J.M.K. Innovation Prize and portfolios in heritage preservation, environmental action, and social justice. Previously she led the Robertson Foundation, managing investments across the US and in New Zealand. Before that, she was CEO of The Fund for Public Schools, the nonprofit fundraising arm of the NYC Department of Education. Her experience also includes working for the Heckscher Foundation for Children and a number of public-private partnerships. Julia began her career as a elementary school teacher and served on the executive staff of The White House from 1994 to 1996. She sits on the boards of Pioneer Works, The David Prize, and the Mill School in Vermont.
