Associate Director of Capacity Building

Kate Gannon is the Associate Director of Training and Capacity Building at Trust for Public Land. Her work focuses on building the capacity of parks and other green spaces to strengthen social ties and build a sense of belonging among community members.

Kate has extensive community engagement and facilitation experience from her previous roles with the Chicago Jobs Council and the Chicago Botanic Garden. She has designed and facilitated customized trainings for nonprofits on community engagement best practices, leadership and program management, coaching, trauma informed care, and case management. She has led workforce development programs in sustainable urban agriculture for adults and youth.  Kate is a certified Roots of Success instructor and has trained over 400 adult learners in environmental literacy.  

Kate holds a Master’s degree in Social Work and Bachelor’s Degrees in Social Work and Sociology from Loyola University Chicago.
