As a member of the BQuest Foundation team, Kathlyn Mead is committed to mitigating the impact of climate change through, primarily program related investments, and grants. BQuest is committed to values-aligned investing and is increasingly making mission related investing a larger component of its total asset. BQuest invests in projects and programs that lower carbon emissions and create more sustainable and resilient communities. Additionally, the BQuest portfolio of grantmaking and investments has an affordable housing focus.
Kathlyn has more than thirty years of senior executive experience having served as President and CEO of The San Diego Foundation, EVP at The California Endowment, SVP, Blue Shield for CalPERS, CEO, Sharp Health Plan, and VP, Managed Care at Children’s Hospital San Diego.
She previously served on the Board of the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science as well as numerous non-profit organization boards of director. Kathlyn predominantly participated on audit, finance, and investment committees. She is currently a gubernatorial appointee to the Del Mar Agricultural Fairgrounds Board of Directors.
Kathlyn has been recognized with community leadership awards from diverse organizations including MANA de San Diego, Union of Pan Asian Communities, A Way with Words, National Medical Fellows, University of Southern California, KGTV, and YWCA. In 2014, Kathlyn was awarded the Charles R. Drew University Medal of Honor.
Kathlyn earned an MBA from the Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
