Laura Speer is the Director of Strategy at the Annie E. Casey Foundation where she works with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and implement the Foundation’s vision of a brighter future for all young people in the United States. Prior to her current position, Laura had primary responsibility for the National KIDS COUNT Project and managed a portfolio focused on national policy research and advocacy with a special emphasis on policies impacting immigrant families. Having spent a number of years doing state- and local-level child advocacy work, Laura served as a key resource for state advocates in the US as well as a number of child advocates in Latin America interested in Data Based advocacy. Laura is a member of the Board of Director’s of Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees and WYPR Public Radio in Baltimore. Laura has a BA in Economics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a Masters in Public Administration from New York University.
