When Corporations Come Knocking – Working with Corporate Donors and Employer-Related Funds

The Council’s Senior Counsel and Vice President of Legal Affairs, Suzanne Friday, and Director of Community Philanthropy, Brad Ward, explored funds that come from corporate donors.  

• Tackle issues with employer-related scholarships, disaster funds, employee hardship funds, corporate DAFs, matching gifts and anything else a corporate donor might bring to your Community Foundation.   
• Identify ways to ensure a lasting relationship with corporations who want to do good through your community foundation by knowing upfront the potential pitfalls with funds often attractive to corporate donors.
• Complications can arise with any donor and their fund, and corporate donors can bring challenges you need to navigate when it comes to benefiting individuals, such as their direct employees.
