The Power of Synergistic Nonprofit Co-Location and Cross-Utilization of Services
Nonprofit organizations are finding innovative ways to amplify impact through synergy, a concept that highlights the power of collaboration and interaction. When different entities work together, they can achieve outcomes far greater than on their own. This session explores the transformative potential of co-location and cross-utilization of services to reduce costs, increase efficiency, and enhance community outcomes. We will delve into an innovative model of nonprofit co-location and cross-utilization of services, spotlighting the Town Hall Education Arts and Recreation Campus (THEARC) in Washington, D.C.’s Ward 8. Coordinated by Building Bridges Across the River (BBAR), THEARC is the largest multisector social services nonprofit collaboration in the United States, housing 14 resident partner organizations that collectively offer children and families a rich blend of educational, recreational, artistic, health, and workforce development programs. Practical insights will be shared on forming and sustaining partnerships and navigating challenges like governance and resource sharing.
