Weary Foundation Endowed Chair in Social Psychology
Kurt Gray is a social psychologist at The Ohio State University, where he directs the Deepest Beliefs Lab, the Center for the Science of Moral Understanding, and the Collaborative on the Science of Polarization and Misinformation. He received his PhD from Harvard University and studies the psychology of moral conflict—why political and cultural disagreements feel so personal, and how perceptions of threat and victimhood drive division. He has published over 140 scientific papers and is the author of Outraged: Why We Fight About Morality and Politics and How to Find Common Ground. He works closely with practitioners and foundations to translate research on moral psychology into practical strategies for reducing conflict and building common ground.
