How do companies address racial equity and expand their role in driving impact within communities?

Companies are moving quickly to meet diversity and inclusion goals and act on the racial justice commitments made to employees, communities, and stakeholders this summer. Many have made public statements and are currently contemplating what’s next. Others are assessing what processes are already underway and how necessary policies and practices should take shape in the workplace and within communities.

To address the critical importance of racial equity and the impact companies can make in communities around the world, the nation’s leading corporate purpose organizations are joining forces for a two-day virtual event.  The Association of Corporate Citizenship Professionals (ACCP), Chief Executives for Corporate Purpose (CECP), Council on Foundations, and Points of Light invite you to join us for “Racial Equity: Moving Companies from Promise to Action”.

This convening, designed for corporate social responsibility and philanthropy leaders and their cross-functional business colleagues, will include a variety of discussions between thought leaders representing academia, business, nonprofits, and philanthropy to support companies in advancing their thought and actions around racial equity.

The goal of this event is to provide an opportunity for corporate leaders to listen to voices in the movement for racial equity, learn what peers are doing, understand how to take action to advance anti-racism commitments, and provide accountability in a supportive community.

Background

When the Covid-19 pandemic hit in the spring of 2020, Association of Corporate Citizenship Professionals (ACCP), Chief Executives for Corporate Purpose (CECP), Council on Foundations, and Points of Light came together to support leaders of corporate purpose in responding to the compounding health and economic crises.

Throughout the Corporate Peer Discussion series co-hosted by the four partner organizations, many companies, emphasizing the disproportionate impact of Covid-19 on communities of color, considered how to redirect their strategies to focus on equitable outcomes. The urgency of the moment was amplified after the murder of George Floyd and the subsequent national movement for racial justice.

The virtual event, “Racial Equity: Moving Companies from Promise to Action” on Dec. 1-2, is a continuation of the partnership and Corporate Peer Discussions and intends to support and equip companies with the knowledge and insights to progress on their racial equity journeys.
