Sarah Kurz

Vice President of Public Affairs
Sarah Kurz is a community-minded and civically engaged public affairs professional with extensive experience in Colorado’s private, public, nonprofit and philanthropic sectors. She serves as vice president of public affairs for Rose Community Foundation and oversees the communications, outreach, policy and advocacy work of the organization. Rose Community Foundation serves the seven-county Greater Denver region and strives to advance inclusive, engaged and equitable communities through values-driven philanthropy. In her role, Kurz elevates the Foundation’s voice and visibility and amplifies thought leadership on policy and community issues. In addition, Kurz is responsible for leading multiple high-impact and high-profile projects for the Foundation including philanthropic funds focused on serving immigrant and refugee communities as well as partnerships supporting Colorado’s media ecosystem.
Prior to the Foundation, she worked in the nonprofit sector providing programs, communications and policy expertise, and was previously a senior staff member in the office of Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock. She has also served as a principal for a statewide consulting firm, overseeing strategic marketing, communications and public policy projects for a diverse group of nonprofit, foundation, government and private-sector clients.
Kurz is a Denver native and holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Duke University. She was a member of the Denver Metro Chamber’s Leadership Denver class of 2020 and the 2008 Impact Denver class. She currently serves on the executive committee for the Colorado Media Project, and previously served as a board member for the New America School and was a mayoral-appointed member of the Denver Commission on Cultural Affairs.
