Cynthia Wallace is the Executive Director and co-founder of the New Rural Project which is a partner with the Rural Urban Bridge Initiative. The New Rural Project has developed innovative and effective strategies to connect with and re-engage people of color in both local community issues and the political process. Cynthia was the 2020 Democratic Nominee for North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District and is an appointed member of the NC State Banking Commission. She was born and raised in rural southeastern Georgia, where all of her grandparents were farmers. She has lived in Atlanta, Jacksonville and now Charlotte. She knows first-hand the challenges facing urban and rural people.
