Pooja Joshi O’Hanlon oversees all key operations and programs at The Thomas and Jeanne Elmezzi Foundation. Prior to The Thomas and Jeanne Elmezzi Private Foundation, she served as Philanthropic Advisor at Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors. In this position she worked closely with individual donors, foundations, corporations and trusts to strategize, define and implement their grantmaking vision. Pooja enjoys building organizations, their systems, structures and good governance. She is passionate about creating equitable learning opportunities for youth in-school and after-school, preserving the environment and improving access to healthy food in low-income communities. Pooja embarked on a career in the nonprofit sector working for a leading community based youth development organization in NYC and is therefore well versed with issues that nonprofit organizations face in implementing their missions. She uses this understanding to guide her current work.
Pooja holds a Master’s degree in International Marketing and Management from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Mumbai in India. She is currently the Co-Chair of the board of The Sadie Nash Leadership Project, an award winning NYC nonprofit organization that strengthens, empowers, and equips low-income minority young women as agents for change in their lives and in the world. She lives in Queens with her husband and children.
