Shelby is a seasoned executive who is currently serving as Interim Chief Operating Officer at the Council on Foundations. Prior to that, her most recent role was Vice President and Managing Director of the Paul J. Aicher Foundation/Everyday Democracy. She was responsible for budget and financial management, HR, facilities management, IT, contracts, and work with the board, among other things. Shelby has also organized conferences on racial equity and community building while at the foundation, and convened non-profits, activist, and researchers on issues such as justice systems reform, anti-poverty, and education reform. Shelby is an educator and community leader who has focused on empowering people to bring about lasting change. Her work demonstrates how deeply she shares our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and racial equity. Prior to joining philanthropy, Shelby held a variety of leadership positions in Connecticut State Government including several that exhibit her deep strengths and expertise in finance, human resources and management.
