Susan True

CEO since October 2017, Susan feels grateful each and every day for the opportunity to lead Community Foundation Santa Cruz County. Susan was raised in Minneapolis by parents who hold strong values of community engagement and justice. Her public education cemented Susan’s commitment to service. She has led efforts to stop the spread of HIV; to nurture children in foster care; to advance the language and literacy skills of young learners, and to support the dreams of a just and equitable Santa Cruz County. Susan has also served as Executive Director of CASA and First 5 of Santa Cruz County. She earned a BA in Community Studies at U.C. Santa Cruz and a Master’s degree from the Stanford Graduate School of Business with certificates in social innovation and nonprofit leadership. She was elected to the Cabrillo Board of Trustees in 2008 and served until 2013. She is the proud mom of an adult son who teaches 6th grade in Monterey and can often be found baking late at night and biking in the sun and fog of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Susan’s hope is that she give at least as much to others as has been given to her.
