The Learning Journey of the Annual Meeting
The Council’s 2015 Annual Meeting will focus on various ways philanthropic leaders can collaborate more effectively in order to meet some of today’s most complex challenges. The meeting will also provide opportunities to observe philanthropy in action, discover innovative ideas, connect with colleagues, and learn approaches that can support philanthropic leaders as they lead their organizations and effectively serve their communities. Attendees can look forward to:
Day 1: Leading Together: Creating a Shared Framework for Impact
Many foundations are addressing similar challenges – from addressing climate change to developing local economies. The task of tackling these issues, however, are greater than any one foundation can overcome alone. On our opening day, learn about the key challenges that we are facing in this destabilized world. Day One sessions focus on creating a shared understanding of these challenges and the many ways foundations are successfully addressing them. Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore how lessons learned from the technology sector can be translated to philanthropic practice.
Day 2: Sharing Information, Ideas, and Knowledge
Philanthropy is vibrant with perspectives from many different cultures and walks of life. Each diverse voice helps our field create meaningful progress as we move forward as one community. Day Two sessions will explore the powerful ways foundations can enhance their capacities to strengthen our collective efficacy. How are colleagues successfully tackling these issues? How is important information being shared? How can foundations learn best practices and key lessons from their peers? Colleagues across the field will come together in an open dialogue during these sessions, sharing stories of success and progress.
Day 3: Building Hope and Opportunity Through Leadership
Strategic partnerships in philanthropy may begin in San Francisco, but the real purpose of our work is in creating opportunity for real progress. The tools, ideas, and relationships from the Annual Meeting must be brought home to our communities, and transformed into action. Day Three sessions will inspire attendees to continue advancing the common good in their communities, and converting conference connections into meaningful change.
