Immediate and Emerging Needs Arising from the California Fires

Philanthropy California is offering funders an up-to-the-minute briefing on the fires, local and state agency responses, and how to aid local efforts and avoid fraud.

As impacted communities in Northern and Southern California continue to grapple with the devastation resulting from the Camp, Woolsey, and Hill fires, questions about those affected and the resources available to them become paramount. This call will focus on the immediate and emerging needs arising from these disasters and the resources available to communities as they begin the long road to recovery. We will provide guidance for philanthropic organizations to begin strategizing their disaster grantmaking to meet the short- and long-term needs of survivors, especially vulnerable individuals, and families. 

Our panel of on-the-ground practitioners will provide up-to-the-minute updates on:

• Current status of the three fires in Butte, Los Angeles, and Ventura counties
• Immediate needs of disaster survivors and the available material and financial resources that are currently available to them
• Vulnerable populations who are impacted by the fires and the anticipated long-term challenges that they will face
• Legal support for funders who are engaged in or are interested in disaster grantmaking
