Voter participation and civic engagement are core facets of a healthy and thriving democracy. At a time when voter participation in the U.S. continues to lag behind that in other countries, foundations have the opportunity to provide needed support. But what can foundations legally do, and what safeguards exist to protect both our sector and our democracy? Join this webinar to learn how foundations can support ongoing nonpartisan voter engagement work, dispel confusion around legal restrictions, and hear about recent initiatives from philanthropic communities around the country to boost voter participation. This webinar dug into the findings of the most extensive study on how storytelling can build trust in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors, undertaken by the Council of Foundations and the Center for Public Interest Communications in 2023. The report based on our findings, released earlier this month, has detailed findings and concrete recommendations born of: 

• A national survey of 3,557 people to assess attitudes about philanthropy and test language; 
• An analysis of Congressmembers’ social media statements about foundations; 
• A content analysis of Congressional Research Service reports; and  
• Interviews with communications practitioners, Congressional staffers, and a philanthropy researcher in the field.

In today's ever-evolving philanthropic landscape, our circles serve as more than just a platform for growth; they are a response to the urgent issues and DEI challenges unfolding in philanthropy and beyond. Through lively discussions, real-world case studies, and collaborative troubleshooting sessions, participants will gain invaluable insights, forge meaningful relationships, and acquire practical strategies and innovative approaches to drive DEI initiatives within their communities.
